Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the World Ultimate Championships, bringing energy, passion, and a love for the sport that’s truly inspiring.
Meet Eric , one of our volunteers ready to make WUC2024 an unforgettable event! Eric’s enthusiasm for ultimate and his dreams of becoming a top-tier player fuel his passion for volunteering. This Sydney native is thrilled to immerse himself in an atmosphere buzzing with elite talent from around the globe. Eric can’t wait to cheer on the Firetails, Dingoes, and Barramundis, and he’s especially excited about sharing iconic Aussie snacks like fairy bread with international volunteers. Having the championships in Australia means a lot to Eric, as it gives him the chance to share the sport he loves with friends and family in a way they’ve never experienced before.

Introducing Camelia, a player for the French U20 women’s team. Camelia is travelling all the way from France to not only support her national team but to also lend a helping hand. Camelia is excited to watch her friends play and soak up the incredible atmosphere of Runaway Bay. Though this is her first time volunteering at a championship, her understanding of Ultimate and her enthusiasm will surely make her an invaluable asset. Camelia believes that volunteering at WUC2024 is a fantastic way to step out of one’s comfort zone, meet new people, and improve her English—all while creating unforgettable memories.
Angus is bringing a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the WUC2024! Having played Ultimate for over 15 years and represented New Zealand in several world tournaments, Angus is no stranger to the exhilarating world of competitive Ultimate. Though he hasn’t volunteered for a WFDF event before, his extensive background in organizing tournaments and frisbee clubs in New Zealand makes him a natural fit for the role. With his wife playing for the Firetails and his own history with the New Zealand teams, Angus has plenty of teams to cheer for. He’s ready to share his passion, knowledge, and some good Aussie snacks (though not Vegemite!) with fellow volunteers and international guests alike.

Exciting times ahead for Anthony! A recent import to Brisbane via Auckland from Nashville, Tennessee, Anthony brings a diverse perspective and a passion for uniting people. This will be Anthony’s first WFDF event, eagerly anticipating the chance to support the global Ultimate community and create lasting memories. With a knack for fostering positivity and teamwork, Anthony aims to ensure every participant has an incredible experience. Anthony is looking forward to supporting the New Zealand teams and watching as much high-level competition as possible while gaining valuable professional insights into event organization and management.
Stefan and Ingrid from Kiama bring a wealth of experience and passion to the WUC 2024 as volunteers! With 40 years of Ultimate under their belts, including playing for national teams in Germany and now with Great Grand Master Teams in Australia, they’re seasoned veterans of the sport. Although it’s their first time volunteering at such a large-scale event, Stefan and Ingrid are looking forward to immersing themselves in the Ultimate community. With their dedication and warmth, Stefan and Ingrid are keen to introduce visitors to Aussie delights like pies with sauce, ensuring everyone enjoys a taste of Australian hospitality.

Benoy’s passion for Ultimate Frisbee shines as he joins the volunteer team for the World Ultimate Championships in the Gold Coast. Starting in college in 2015, his love for the sport led him to found Y-Ultimate, a non-profit nurturing young talent. This year, six kids from Y-Ultimate are on the Indian team, making this event a significant milestone. Volunteering at his first WFDF event, Benoy is excited to contribute his skills in operations, event planning, and stakeholder management. Traveling from India, he eagerly supports the Indian National Team and looks forward to exploring the Gold Coast. This experience promises both personal and professional growth, enriching volunteer-led systems for future tournaments in India.
Brian has been involved with Ultimate since its inception in Australia, both as a player and administrator, starting with the first Australian Championships in 1978. He was also the Tournament Director for the 2006 World Ultimate Club Championships held in Perth. Reflecting on his previous experience, he vividly recalls the enthusiasm and athleticism of the Colombian National Team at WUCC 2006, their first WFDF World Championships. Traveling from Western Australia, he’ll be cheering for the Aussies and is thrilled about the boost the sport will get from hosting another World Championships. And when it comes to snacks, it’s all about Vegemite on toast with plenty of butter!

With volunteers like Angus, Camelia, Anthony, Stefan, Ingrid, Eric, Brian and Benoy, we know this championship will be a spectacular success!
