If you’re heading to the WUC 2024 from Surfers Paradise, here’s the easiest way to get to the action:

  1. Catch the G:Link Tram: Hop on the tram towards Helensvale. Trams run frequently, so you won’t have to wait long.
  2. Transfer at Southport: Get off at the Southport station and transfer to a local buses 713 or 719 heading to Runaway Bay Shopping Centre.
  3. Walk to Fields: From there, it’s just a quick 10-minute walk north to the tournament fields.

From Monday, 5 August, for six months, the Queensland government is offering an incredible deal: all public transport fares on the Translink network across Queensland will be reduced to a 50 cent flat rate. This includes regional urban buses, and bus, train, ferry, tram, and on-demand services throughout South East Queensland.

Please note: The South East Queensland (SEQ) network is cashless, and tickets must be purchased before boarding any transit service.

Here’s how you can pay for your travel:

You can buy a go card with cash at any fare machine located at bus and train stations, or from go card retailers. Once you have a go card, simply tap on when you board and tap off when you leave the transit service

You can also pay directly with your credit/debit card. Tap your Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card on the card reader as you board and again when you leave. Digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay linked to your smart device are also accepted.

Taxi and Ride Share

E-Bikes

For those who enjoy a more active and environmentally friendly way to travel, the Gold Coast’s bike share scheme offers a fantastic option. Lime has launched pedal-assisted electric bikes that are perfect for short trips around the area.

With Lime’s bike share program, you can pick up a bike wherever you find one and ride it to your destination without needing to return it to a docking station. It’s a flexible and affordable way to get around, especially if you enjoy some pedal power. The operating map for Lime bikes extends up to Lae Drive, which is just a five-minute walk south of the tournament fields at Runaway Bay Sports Precinct West.

To use a Lime bike, simply download the Lime App on your smartphone. Once registered, you can unlock and lock bikes through the app. This service makes it easy to explore the Gold Coast while enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery.

Driving

When arriving at the World Ultimate Championships 2024 at Runaway Bay Sports Precinct, here’s what you need to know about drop off and parking.

The Drop Off Zone is conveniently located on Sports Drive, just north of Lae Drive. This zone provides a quick and easy drop-off option, allowing passengers to reach the Tournament Village entrance with just a short walk. Please follow the event signage to ensure a safe and efficient drop-off process.

For those driving to the event, free parking is available at two convenient locations:

  1. Sports Drive: This parking area is easily accessible and close to the venue. Follow the signs to find the designated parking space off Sports Drive.
  2. Oxley Drive: Another convenient option, this parking area is situated off Oxley Drive, providing ample space for spectators and participants alike.

Make sure to park only in designated areas to avoid any inconvenience. Tow-away zones are strictly enforced in front of emergency access gates. Vehicles parked in these zones will be towed at the owner’s expense. Always refer to event signage for specific locations of these restricted areas to ensure compliance and keep the access paths clear for emergency services.

For those with disability parking permits, there is several accessible parking spots adjacent to the Indoor Sports Centre at the end of Sports Drive. This allows easy and accessible parking close to the event site, so you can enjoy the championships without any hassle.
